Durarara!!

Cosplay: Durarara!! (Celty Sturlson)
Event: Otakon 2010

I’ve already posted tutorials and rambling on how I made each prop, but in summary the scythe took about a month and I remade it 3 times. I cut the blade from insulation foam, covered it in paperclay and reinforced it with popsicle sticks. I covered the whole thing in black cloth to give it some detail and “elusiveness”.

I was scrambling a week before Otakon 2010 to complete the motorcycle helmet and finished it in the span of two short days. I took a normal helmet, primed and painted it and then used cardboard soda boxes for the ears. I covered them in tape and found these amazing “Sharpie” paint markers to add the detail and markings.

I was able to order my combat boots and bodysuit from milanoo.com. They have tons of awesome stuff you can get custom ordered. It’s a great resource for those of us who lack the dexterity and finess to sew… >.>;  Although, now that I’ve successfully completed my first real cosplay I’m going to teach myself how to sew! Wish me luck…  :O

I went to Otakon with a group of friends who cosplayed Shizuo and Dotachin! Check out the awesome job they did~

I thought I was the only one who watched Durarara!

A lot of my friends didn’t like it nor did online reviews.

I had been thinking of doing Celty for a convention sometime, since as of right now I have never done a cosplay, and DRR!! is my favorite and all. But I wanted to do something relatively not difficult.

I think your tutorials have shown me that this would be a cosplay worth persuing. The biker helmet is not as expensive nor difficult at all if I was to do it myself. : D And the rest would come together nicely. I even believe that I would be able to wear something different with the helmet as well as long as it was all black.

Thank you for your wonderful tutorials. <3 *Bows.* You look really good in your cosplay you had made!!
